Dancing With & On The Body:

Essential Touch, Esalen® Massage & Moving The Body on The Table

September 24 - 26, 2010

Educating Hands School of Massage

Miami, Florida

Ellen Watson

Esalen® Massage is a healing art form, evolved over 45 years at the Esalen® Institute, in Big Sur, California.

Influenced by the rhythms of the Pacific Ocean, this form of touch engages all the senses and offers deep connectedness and relaxation to both giver and receiver. This workshop invites participants to explore the world of Essential Touch, incorporating the basic principles of a good massage: grounding & centering, moving from the core, quality of touch, and using breath to bridge the connection between giver and receiver.

One of the key elements of this art form is accessing one's vital essence, then tap into the flowing, creative energy present in a living body and let one's massage rhythm emerge from that experience. We will include technique, especially the Esalen® signature moves, as participants are ready.

In addition to the primary goals of learning to touch essence and move energy, we will practice how to move our own bodies and the body on the table. Through practicing ecstatic dance, partner yoga and chi gong, we will learn how to combine touch and movement that result in our Dancing With and On the Body.

This workshop is designed for both the novice and the experienced bodyworker. Bring with you a willingness to move and be moved.

CEU credits for bodyworkers and nurses, and with Yoga Alliance
